Shoulder Replacement
Shoulder replacement occurs when the individual has damage to their shoulder causing pain and inability to use the joint properly. Typically it is performed for patients with severe arthritis (various types) and people who have sustained injuries to their shoulder. Both the head of the humerus, and the joint socket can be replaced, although some surgeries only require one or the other. The more complicated and invasive surgeries take much longer to heal and regain function. The recovery is very painful, and requires a lot of physical therapy.
